How to take care of your jewellery
Polymer clay turns into plastic when cured at a moderately high temperature. Jewellery made of this material thus resists water. I suggest however, that you don't wear your jewellery under the shower, and that you always store it in its fabric bag in a safe place out of direct sunlight. Avoid contact with aggressive materials and chemicals and do not drop, bash or scratch in order to prevent damage. Excessively low and high temperatures and constant humidity may cause your jewellery to break or tear, and compromise the integrity of the piece.
Wood and paper maché creations have been sealed with a high quality water resistant varnish to protect them from water splashes and humidity. Do not wear your jewellery under the shower, swimming pools or any other wet place. Please store your jewellery in its fabric bag, in a dry place out of direct sunlight. Avoid contact with aggressive materials and chemicals and do not drop, bash or scratch in order to prevent damage. Excessively low and high temperatures and constant humidity may cause your jewellery to break or tear, and compromise the integrity of the piece.
My Ceramic creations are made either of stoneware or porcelain. These are fired at a high temperature (between 1250°C and 1280°C). To add colour, I either dye the clay with pigments and oxydes, or apply glazes. Ceramic creations can be compared to thick glass. They are water resistant, and temperature differences won't affect them. Although porcelain has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale (which is the hardness of quartz), it may break when dropped on a hard surface. Ceramic creations can be cleaned with soap and water.
